Corvallis – Senior offensive guard Roy Schuening has added another All-America honor to his growing resume by being selected first team by ESPN.com, it was announced Monday.
The Pendleton, Ore., native will start an OSU record 50th game (consecutively) when the Beavers play in the Dec. 28 Emerald Bowl at AT&T Park in San Francisco against Maryland. Schuening, a 2007 Pac-10 First Team selection, was also honored last week by Pro Football Weekly as a first team All-America. He has already earned more postseason honors than any Beaver offensive lineman has in four decades.
“Roy Schuening has been a model of consistent play,” ESPN college football writer Ivan Maisel said. “In a year where few guards have grabbed the attention of NFL scouts, Schuening has grabbed it week after week after week.”
Schuening has been invited to all of the postseason all-star games, selecting to participate in the Senior Bowl Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.
Oregon State, 8-4 for the season, is currently practicing for its seventh bowl game in nine years and fourth with head coach Mike Riley in the last five years.
